Owner-built business readiness
See how ready your business is for a buyer.
SellGrade is a private, plain-English diagnostic for small business owners who may sell in the next one to five years. It gives you a grade, buyer concerns, and a practical action plan before the market judges the business for you.
Educational diagnostic only. Not a formal valuation, brokerage, legal, tax, or investment service. Read disclaimers.
How it works
Answer practical questions
The assessment asks concrete operating questions instead of asking you to guess how sellable the business is.
Receive your grade
A deterministic scoring model produces an A–D SellGrade across six buyer-confidence dimensions.
Know what to fix first
The report explains buyer concerns in plain English and gives you a focused 90-day action plan.
Before you go to market
The same reason you wash the car before selling it.
You would not sell a car without washing it, finding the obvious issues, and pulling together the maintenance records. You would not list a house without cleaning it up, handling small repairs, and seeing what a buyer will notice first.
SellGrade does the same kind of preparation for an owner-built business. It does not hide problems or pretend to be a formal valuation. It helps you see the buyer-confidence gaps early, so the best version of the business is easier to understand, trust, and eventually sell.
Who this is for
What we mean by small business.
The SBA does not use one universal cutoff for every small business. Its size standards vary by industry and are generally based on annual receipts or employee count.
SellGrade uses that official framework, then narrows the practical target: independent, owner-led businesses, typically under $5M in annual revenue, where transferability and buyer confidence matter before a formal sale process.
